Former Idaho Governor Charles Ben Ross, age 69, died after a long illness in a Boise hospital. He served three consecutive terms from 1930 to 1936, retiring after losing a bid for the U S Senate to Sen. William Borah.
A coast guard report from Unimak Aleutians noted a tidal wave at 1 30 a m PST with unknown damage. On Oahu Hawaii a ten foot surge flooded homes and beach roads before 7 am and later receded, with no injuries reported though damage is expected.</s>
The Associated Press reports a sun and snow day with New York getting brief snow flurries while Chicago eyed a potential April 1 record of 80 degrees. Midwest and Southwest towns saw heat with Laredo hitting 101, Topeka 93, and Kansas City warm. St. Louis cooled to 70 after a 44 normal. Mrs. Clara E. Barrett reported a nunpiloted truck rolled down a hill and into her bedroom in Salt Lake City. Police said William Paul Newman, 40, of Riverton, Utah drove the vehicle after it bumped a car on the hill. Newman jumped and cut his head as the truck stopped in the room.
