Seivers, air mail pilot on the Eland Pittsburgh route, barely escaped a fatal crash after ice, snow squalls, and a spin forced an emergency dive from 2000 feet. He had twice qualified for the Caterpillar Club by parachute rescue, and the wrecked plane carried the mail on by train.

In New Delhi India announces a new law banning child marriages effective April 1. Matures must not wed girls under 14 or boys under 18 with penalties including a 1000 rupees fine or up to one month in prison. prior years saw thousands of infant marriages aimed at delaying the ban.
Bodies of five miners were found at Pioneer Coal mine near Kettle Island Kentucky after an explosion. Rescue teams estimate remaining eleven miners also perished as debris and carbon monoxide hinder access. recovery may take days. State and federal mines officials coordinate efforts with local companies.
In federal court today Julian President asked Judge William J. James to send him immediately to McNeil Island federal penitentiary. He is under a seven year federal sentence for using the mails to defraud in his promotion of the oil company.

Gus Gentry 24 offered 200 to Dr. D L Holt after a crash in Hammond Indiana. Police detained him when they found 96 gallons of alcohol in Gentrys car. Dr Holt reported the incident and authorities arrived.
Laims Salt Lake City March 31 AP reports Dr. L. J. Paul Utah regional manager of the veterans survey says several hundred of Utahs 18000 World War II veterans have not yet applied for federal disability compensation and that April 1 is the last day to file.

Deputy Sheriff Lloyd Lane pursues Ambrose Williams after a raid on a Gay County farm. Williams is shot in the back as he flees. Lane allegedly fires after a pursuit of about 800 yards. Postmaster General Brown announced a new air mail stamp series for the Graf Zeppelin European Pan American flight. The 65 cent, 1.30 dollar and 2.60 dollar stamps cover letter rates for the New York Friedrichshafen round trip via Lakehurst and Seville with parts by steamship. Postcard rates are 1.30 dollars and 65 cents.
