The American Medical Association says 1949 graduates numbered 5,094 the smallest in a decade while fall freshman enrollment is expected to reach a record 6,900. Women among graduates total 612, the largest female class ever, as Canadian schools graduate 679. The AMA notes rising medical education costs to 61 million dollars and condemns limits on out of state students, urging access and quality.
