A Treasury report shows 1946 had 94 individuals earning over 1 million dollars, with six above five million and 53 between 1 and 1.5 million. Total income tax paid by these 94 reached 110 million dollars, while half of all taxpayers earned under 2 thousand dollars that year and paid half the taxes.
Salt Lake City reports three chapels nearing completion with two more started to serve about 19,500 members in the Pacific Northwest mission. Boise prison officials said 15 year old Mike Foley of Leland would begin a life term for murdering his mother and killing his 12 year old brother. Foley pleaded guilty to second degree murder and was sentenced by Judge Leo McCarthy in Lewiston. parole eligibility in 10 years. The Jan. 19 slayings prompted the case.
