Connally vows no bend in US support for NATO amid Soviet shift
Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Tom Connally says the Molotov Vishinsky reshuffle will not move the United States from its full backing of the North Atlantic security alliance. He warns Moscow may intensify pressure, while the State Department notes the move is Moscow's business. Secretary Acheson set a semi final treaty negotiating session to fit his stance.

Farmers Can Deduct Blizzard Losses From Taxes
The IRS says farmers who lost cattle and sheep in the Midwest blizzards may deduct certain losses on income tax. For cash basis filers the loss on purchased livestock can be deducted, while stock raised uses expenses not market value. Accrual filers reflect losses in inventories. Losses may apply to earlier profits and be carried to 1950 and 1951 if needed. Property losses may be deducted if itemized. Salvage value and insurance received must be considered.
