Ezzard Charles Wins World Heavyweight Title by KO Upset Decision

Charles earned 233 points to Walcott’s 217 in front of about 26 000 spectators, with no knockdowns but a bloody display as Walcott opened a cut and both traded heavy blows. Beetle Fight Starts Soon in Caribou Forest
A campaign to combat mountain pine beetles in the Caribou national forest near Diamond Flat will start Monday. J D Hansen of the U S forest service says 28 000 trees may be infested but only about 3 000 can be treated before beetles move to new trees. The effort follows March planning and recent federal funding. The beetle bores into trees and destroys the cambium, killing the tree as eggs are laid and larvae hatch.
