Seals Trained for Circuses by McBride and Snow
A. D. McBride and Homer Snow run a Hermosa Beach California seal school. They capture pups and yearlings from nearby islands and train them in water polo spinning a barrel and ball. Seals learn vocal calls and even a limited vocabulary. A skilled seal can fetch up to $5 000 and the trainers work with 10 to 15 at a time.
