Frontier Rodeo Parade Opens Seventh Annual Frontier Rodeo
About 20 000 spectators lined downtown Pocatello for the ten block Frontier Rodeo Parade kicking off the seventh annual event. Marine color guard from the Naval Ordnance Plant led the procession followed by Earl Hutchinson on a black horse and the city band in western wear. The parade featured nearly 200 horses and riders, various mounted groups from southeastern Idaho, drum corps, dance studio floats, and notable entries from the Lions club and Pocatello merchants. Indians appeared sparsely, with a Jeep dealer entry, while the 1849 and 1949 Welcome Wagons floated amid festive costumes and bearded crowds.
