Truman Tax Credit Would Cut Household Bills
Treasury experts say the cost of living tax credit would sharply reduce 1948 tax payments for many families. Married couples with two children would deduct 160 from taxable income, lowering bills across brackets, while single filers could see full or partial relief depending on income. The plan applies only to income after Jan 1, 1948, with March 15, 1949 deadlines for these taxes.
