Petrillo Starts Ban On Records
The American Federation of Musicians bans recording studios to force use of live musicians in radio, dance halls, and taverns. Petrillo says members will not return to recording, while industry figures fear a collapse of the juke box market and royalties. Rep. Hartley plans anti trust bill to counter the ban. Four juke box favorites continue cutting records despite the ban.
