Economic Council Sees Slump and Price Breaks Warning
The Truman economic advisory council warned that relying on production alone could invite disastrous price breaks and recession before 1948 ends. It urged down pricing, reduced profits in some sectors, narrower wage extremes, better income balance, and no 44 to 48 hour work week. It called for reforms to end restrictive practices, fair distribution, 1.5 million homes yearly for a decade, urban rebuilding aid, and mass scale health and education programs.
