Jail Matron Like Victim Irks Lonely Hearts Killer
Mrs. Martha Beck, 29, called the lonely hearts killer, is miserable in jail as her attorney says the jail matron reminds her of a victim. The matron, a temporary employee, was reassigned as Beck faced possible violence toward the matron. Beck and Raymond Fernandez plead insanity in the Fay slaying and seek transfer to Michigan to avoid the death penalty. Judge Collins ordered notification of threats and reserved decision on grand jury minutes.
