Construction crews for the Caliente and Pioche Railroad camp near the proposed site and will likely complete the new grade from the flat to the terminus soon if weather allows. The town plans Rail Road Day but delays may occur due to cars, roadbed completion, and December storms. a spring date may be best if railroad cooperation cannot be secured.
William Lloyd reports from Mendah after an inspection trip that conditions at the mine are favorable. A cross-cut from the 700 foot level runs 25 feet with a vein about 2.5 feet wide carrying silver lead and gold values. Ore bins are full and ore ships, though transportation lags, with management estimating 30 tons daily once Pioche road is completed. An air compressor and machine drills will be installed soon.
The Bristol Consolidated Mining Company reports a temporary stoppage at its properties. Reasons include unsettled metal markets and awaiting railroad completion. Large quantities of ore have been extracted and blocked out, but lack of space now limits mining, with ore supplies not the issue.
The election of Dr Loomis of New York City to vice president and general manager of the Nevada Utah corporation is seen by local mining men as significant. Loomis is described as energetic and aggressive and likely to push properties to full capacity to create jobs in Pioche. The railroad’s nearing completion could enable large-scale work and substantial activity in the coming year.
W. W. Dunn, a longtime figure in local mining, leaves for Golconda Nevada to take a general manager post with a prominent company and secure mine interests there. He plans to return within a year, with H. C. Rowley handling his local interests in the meantime. Mrs. Dunn accompanies him.

At the Susan Duster mine owned by the Ohio-Kentucky Company the shaft has reached 900 feet. Crosscutting upon the vein is planned to encounter quartzite within a few feet, a contact expected to yield rich ore. Upper workings have yielded excellent ore in shale, with anticipated gains at the quartzite and porphyry contact.

A 15 horsepower hoist arrives from Salt Lake for the new shaft and water pipes extend from town to the flourishing camp.
The attorney general ruling states that affidavits of labor fall under the general fee schedule, not a flat $1. This impacts recorder charges when multiple claims are named. A ball game is announced for tomorrow at 2 pm, Pioche’s regular team with Manley and Ellsworth, and a Bristol visitor, Mr. Ellis, surveys local mining property.
The Prince mine restarts shaft sinking from 270 feet to 300 feet with a planned station at the 300 foot level for drifting, and a 20 foot drift at 200 feet already shows an immense body of good grade ore. Management anticipates strong tonnage as shipping begins.
Carson News reports confusion over a bond printing error blamed on the lithograph company. The County Clerk says he had no role as the board of county commissioners appointed Goodrich to approve proofs, which the lithograph firm failed to submit before final printing, leading to the error.
