Michigan labor report shows better homes many owned

A Michigan labor bureau study surveyed 4 435 workers in agricultural implement and iron trades. It finds many families own homes with little mortgage, average yearly income around 407 dollars for single men and 525 dollars for married men, with substantial personal possessions such as sewing machines and even organs or pianos. It notes 69 percent own sewing machines 67 percent read papers and more than one fifth own musical instruments, with 40 percent saving money and a total of 175 470 dollars spent on homes and improvements and 320 880 dollars saved.
