A spate of burglaries hit Pioche Tuesday night including A. B. Thompson store where about five dollars vanished from a rear desk and a cash drawer. At Price Lodging House a $70 watch and some silver were stolen while occupants slept. A Cecil Hotel resident disturbed a night intruder with a ladder attempting to reach the second story. Police vowed thorough investigation and heightened vigilance. Local figures Nichols and Egan plan a grand opening for Monday or Tuesday with a large lunch set.

New Ore Find Opens In Yuba East Mine
In the Yuba East dike crosscut from the 200 to the south contact a steel galena seam was found on the east side. The seam widens as adrift is followed, averaging 125 ounces silver and 55 percent lead. No ore is mined yet, development proceeds with six of eight faces in ore. Boston & Proche Mining Co waits for better smelter prices and does not stop development. William Lloyd, a major stockholder and consulting engineer, praised as The Ore Hound of Pioche, aided the favorable drift conditions. A new 100 hp engine is due today May 9, and the compressor left Chicago May 4.
