The Pioche justice court, led by Judge Maynard from Caliente, heard cases including the forgery and obtaining money under false pretenses of Vito Testa and Tony Gambini. Testa cashed a $51.75 check at Bank of Pioche after receiving it from Gambini. Gambini claimed it came from an Englishman in Royal City. Rumor says Montgomery grew close to Brakeman Garrison’s wife, provoking a sensational daytime confrontation. The departure occurred from the depot living apartments on the second floor after a gunpoint incident, leaving the station with no access to fire escapes and an abruptly ended career.
