Five Feet Thick Ore Body Discovered at Prince Mine

A five foot thick body of rich ore was uncovered in the Prince mine at the 300 foot level, indicating ore increases in value with depth. The deposit yields silver and lead with some gold, and may elevate the Prince as a major regional producer under manager Wm. Lloyd and foreman Richard Chope.

Nevada Mines Output Reveals Strong 1906 Gold Production

Nevada ranked high among U S gold and silver producers in 1906 with gold output totaling 10 470 704 dollars, led by Goldfield at 7 056 154 dollars and Tonopah district at 1 304 677 dollars. Silver reached 6 770 611 ounces, Tonopah remaining the chief producer with 5 697 928 ounces.

The contracted steel cells for Pioche’s new county jail have not arrived since the December 6 deadline. The building is ready except for the cells, and the delay may result in forfeiture of part of the purchase price. No shipment details have been heard.

Caliente Man John Smith Wounded by Unknown Gunman

John Smith of Caliente was seriously wounded last Saturday evening by an unknown assailant while en route to his brother Phil K. Smith sheriff. The shot was fired without warning, lodged below the groin and traversed the torso. he was transported to Salt Lake City and is progressing favorably. No motive or suspect information is available.

Fernandez Has Some Good Ore At Jack Rabbit Prospect

Chas Fernandez from the Bristol District spent Christmas in Proce. He reports recent work on several claims in the area shows promising results and potential for merit with proper development. He displayed rock from claims owned by Judge Talbot of Carson City and Judge Brown of Elko, likening the ore to that found in the Day mine at Jack Rabbit, a known quantity among local miners.

Troops Ordered Withdrawn from Goldfield Riot Toll

The President ordered federal troops withdrawn from Goldfield citing lack of required legal preliminaries for federal aid. Governor Sparks opposes the recall, while Sheriff Ingalls says he can maintain order. Troops will depart December 30.
