Amalgamated Shaft Repairs Near Completion

Amalgamated Shaft repairs are completed except for pumping and new equipment not yet installed. The company plans to sink the shaft 200 more feet, with two Eppinger Carpenter pumps to handle water at levels 1200 and 50 feet. Delays push sinking to about November 15, while a new power plant and hoist are prepared.

State offers bounty for artesian water discovery

A 1901 state law provides rewards for wells meeting artesian water and hydrocarbon yields. A $1000 bounty goes to the first well producing 6 barrels of crude oil, $1000 for 1900 feet of natural gas, and $2500 for a well yielding at least 60 gallons per minute. Day-Bristol Cons Mining firm enlarges Bristol operation

Local officials report General Manager Bent has closed a contract with a Salt Lake machinery firm to supply equipment for a proposed aerial tramway spanning mountains between Bristol and the Ploche Pacific railroad terminus at Jack Rabbit. The company also bought new hoisting equipment to be installed at the May Day shaft in Bristol.

Pardon Granted to Former Lincoln County Sheriff

The state board of pardons pardons O. H. Smith, formerly Lincoln county sheriff, restoring him to full citizenship. Smith was convicted of embezzlement in June 1911, sentenced by Judge Somers to two years, served months, and was released on parole before the pardon. James Pettee, once a Salt Lake Route mechanic at Caliente, has joined the Amalgamated Pioche and works in their machine shops.
