Pioche Fire Ravages Main Street Stores
A Sunday blaze in Pioche devastated the main business section from the Welland store east to Lecour street. The A Thompson Company suffered the largest loss, with stock and buildings near twenty five thousand dollars and insurance of five thousand. Firefighters, aided by Prince Consolidated miners and mine crews, battled flames through the night, saving some properties while others were destroyed, including the Cecil hotel and the Miners' Exchange.
