Compromise Ends Mining Ground Suit Between Youngs and Petrulas
In a district court session Judge Horsey accepted a compromise in Grover A. Youngs versus James Petrulas et al. The deal grants Youngs title to Kathleen Nos 1 and 2 and Florence Nos 1 and 2 mining claims, with Youngs to deed Kathleen No. 1 to Petrulas later while keeping all ore, and Petrulas to license use of water from Kathleen No. 1 for mining and for cutting purposes. W. J. Leland of San Francisco joins as associate. parties will operate the properties. Separately, a petition seeks a Pioche school district levy to fund Main street improvements from the schoolhouse to Panwea Flat, estimating about $1500 and a 50 cent tax per $100 valuation. The work aims to improve grading, center fill, and curbing to drain water away from the street.

Pioneer Nevada editor Bragg dies suddenly in Reno
Allen Bragg, a Nevada pioneer and former owner of the Reno Evening Gazette, died suddenly at his Reno home after a stroke. Born 1849 in Maine, he moved to Carson City, then Reno, ran a lumber business, edited the Gazette until 1908, later led the Silver State in Winnemucca and White Pine News, served as Ely police judge, and was sergeant-at-arms of the Nevada Senate. He belonged to Knights of Pythias and Masonic orders.
Mill Shaft Break Causes Short Closure at Consolidated Mill
Operations at the Consolidated New ada Utah mill were handicapped this week by the breaking of the main shaft. The plant was closed for several days pending arrival and installation of a new shaft ordered and shipped by express. It is expected to resume normal running in a few days.
