Pioche Metals Shares Levy Notice Details Mine Status

Shareholders of Pioche Metals Mining hear of a one cent per share assessment issued by directors on April 25. Secretary C A Cool reports seven claims owned outright, $60,000 bond to Plobe Consolidated reduced to about $12,000, a 260 foot shaft, high grade ore at 230 feet, plan to cross-cut to ore from the 300 level, compressor and power drill on order, bills payable and overdrafts about $499.50, monthly expenditure $850, treasury 438,720 shares unsellable at fair price, about fifty tons ore stored valued near $20 per ton awaiting railroad access.

Railroad proposal aims to span Nevada to the Pacific

Jesse Simmons of the Pioche Commercial Club reports a letter from H S Wannamaker seeking data on building an east west railroad through Pioche. Wannamaker envisions a transcontinental line from Cimarron New Mexico to the Pacific promoting population, lands, tonnage and local cooperation. The club secretary was instructed to respond that credible backing would likely gain local encouragement if the project is serious.

NERS' MEETING AT COUNTY BOARD REGULAR SESSION

At the May meeting of the county commissioners a quorum heard routine bills and issued several orders. An transfer moved from the general county fund to the salary fund for 205 dollars was approved. An engineer license for David Lemon was issued after validation of credentials. Appointment requests for T J Harrington and Denton faced vacancy issues and authority questions. The county treasurer Henry Lee’s bond was renewed and Lincoln Bank tax notices were discussed for later action. A town meeting was set to allow bank representatives to present their position before the board.

Masons Prepare for Grand Master Visit in Nevada

Middleton lost in mountains sparks family unease

Elmer Middleton, member of Pioche Lodge No 23 I.O.O.F., disappeared more than a week ago while seeking mining claims near the Peer ground. A relief party was sent from Pioche to Fairview district to locate him after he left on his bicycle promising to be away only two days. No tidings since.

Nevada Round Mountain mine proves small ventures profit

The Round Mountain Mining Company reports a strong year with 77,500 tons mined yielding 916,122 in returns and 269,080 in dividends. It owns 343 acres, operates a 100 ton mill, and holds cash over 82,000. The Nevada “little mine” shows that low to mid grade ore can be mined, milled, and profitably sold, bolstering faith in modest ventures despite few railroad links.
