Indian boy sentenced to death in 1903 case

The 16 year old Cochts Sexmiller from what is now Clark County pled guilty to the murder of Bill Williams in 1903 at Piocho district court. Convicted of murder, he faced hanging in 1904 until Governor clemency commuted his sentence to life. He has since been paroled three times, most recently in November 1817, and sent to Ohio where he writes a long letter from Westerville describing his efforts to reform and restart life amid harsh winter conditions.

Salt Lake House officials visited Pierrie in a private car for an inspection trip. The party included W. Crenstock general manager H. E. Venhousen superintendent W. J. Smith assistant superintendent K. Brunswick traveling engineer and Frank Strong chief engineer.

Rebekah Dance Held at Thompson's Opera House

The Rebekah dance, postponed from February 22, drew a large crowd at Thompson's Opera House. A well conducted event ended around 1 am with a midnight luncheon. Committee head Lena Jaim and others earned credit for the splendid affair, which netted a balance donated to the Red Cross Poche Auxiliary. Music was supplied by the high school orchestra.

Ore Shipments Reported for Week From Ploche Plant

Ore shipments from Ploche last week totaled 63 cars. Prince Consolidated moved 50 cars, Consolidated Nevada Utah 2 cars, and Uvada Copper 1 car.

Pioche Prices Rise for Ford Cars Across Town

Ford cars are now sold at new prices effective immediately, per a telegram from the factory to local agent Roy Orr. The updated prices will appear in the advertising columns of this issue. Local residents Roy Orr and others note travel updates and regional visits, including Mrs. W. R. Pitts returning from Hollywood and Los Angeles, amid Southern California rain. Johnnie Price of Wilson Creek rancher returned after a short visit to Pioche, Rev Percival C. Smithe carried out services in Las Vegas, and locals Sam Hollinger Ursine and H. W. Turner Taek Rabbit mine guests visited Pioche this week and Tuesday.

Mining Situation Improves in Ploche District

The mining situation in the Ploche district improves with about 40 cars of ore per week. Some 50 men are at work at Princes Consolidated with Avada Copper adding a compressor and upgrades. New ore bodies show silver gold and substantial values at 300 and 600 foot levels. Mendha and Black Metals near Jack Rabbit push shipments. Combined Metal reports high grade ore and Greenwood looks better than ever.

The Fioche Nevada Record has been sold by Lewis H. Beason to O K R Nation of Los Angeles. Nation arrived in Pioche in a new car to complete the purchase as Beason departed for the coast for a vacation.
