Indian boy sentenced to death in 1903 case
The 16 year old Cochts Sexmiller from what is now Clark County pled guilty to the murder of Bill Williams in 1903 at Piocho district court. Convicted of murder, he faced hanging in 1904 until Governor clemency commuted his sentence to life. He has since been paroled three times, most recently in November 1817, and sent to Ohio where he writes a long letter from Westerville describing his efforts to reform and restart life amid harsh winter conditions.
