Silver Horn camp yields rich silver ore finds

In the Silver Horn district, investors from Los Angeles and local miners push development of new claims. Assays show 287.7 ounces of silver per ton over three feet, with leases secured near the main ore dyke. Nickel bearing vein near the porphyry contact and ongoing expansion plan target larger milling tonnage for future development by Silver Horn Mining Company.

Metal Quotations in Eastern Markets

Metal prices remain depressed with limited demand across the East. Silver weakens in sympathy with sterling setbacks while copper, lead, and other metals hover near wartime price levels. The American Smelting & Refining Co cut official silver price to 4.60, with market price slightly under. arsenic remains high as production continues.

Rich ore strikes at Virginia Louise mine in depth

Rich a liver lead ore was found on the 4th and 6th levels of the Virginia Louise development. Manager L. G. Gilet is pleased with underground conditions. Development work will be rushed to determine extent of new strikes while raises and a crosscut are started to prove the occurrence on the 6th level. High assays have been reported from the 4th and 5th level stopes, sparking local interest in the mine.

Miner Joe Mayers Injured At Silver Horn Mine

Last Sunday Joe Mayers, a miner at the Silver Horn mine, inadvertently entered a freshly fired cut within ten feet of the face. The blasts shattered rock but he escaped serious injury after being removed to ProShe and examined by Dr Hastings, who deemed injuries less severe than first feared.

Scott's Road Bill Passes the Senate

The Senate approved Senate Bill No. 9 introduced by Senator Scott, placing Lincoln County on the state highway system from Ely through Pioche to Las Vegas with construction to begin when funds allow.
