Commissioners Fix Tax Rate For The Year 1911

The Nye County Board of Commissioners met at the court house to fix the 1911 tax rate after auditing accounts. Hospital bids favored Dr J W Smith of Caliente for care starting at three patients monthly, with $1 per day for additional patients. transport costs to be shared by county and doctor. Other bids were listed, printing contracts awarded to The Prospector of Caliente, bond required, and concerns raised over pricing. The meeting also covered salary adjustments for interest substitutes, fire appraisals, and road district supervision changes, with action on school levy, a new high school fund, and a request to remove the Panaca road supervisor. The board approved several fund transfers and set next meeting for March 6.

Poiche Man Dies in Los Angeles

David Wertheimer of this city received word from Los Angeles that his father Leopold Wertheimer, well known here, died in Los Angeles at age 71. He left Monday for San Francisco for the funeral and burial next Wednesday. The couple had lived together nearly sixty years. Wertheimer, born in Germany, came to the United States about 65 years ago and to California in 1850. He engaged in mining and general merchandise in the region for years and had business interests in Ploche and Delamar Nevada. Eight children survive including David Wertheimer and Mrs Ernest L. Godba, Louis Wertheimer, Charles Wertheimer, Samual Wertheimer, Mrs Lats of Portland, Mrs Noe, and Miss Susan Wertheimer.

Following official information that the railroad from Twin Falls to Cobra Nov. via Contact the new copper camp is to be built next Rimmer General rush han ptart at Contact per the White Pine News AH White of Salt Lake says many new men arrived last week locating the district around the Contact townsite. Additional staging facilities have been required to accommodate incoming workers. The camp has a lively aspect with work progressing in a large number of properties and development expected to continue.

Small force on day mine payroll at Day mine

The Nevada Ash company has retained about a half dozen men at the Day mine at Jack Rabbit pending the resumption of traffic on the railroad. Operations are shut down for ore extraction due to facilities to keep ore tangents until the Salt Lake Route repairs the washout damage on the Ploche branch.

Salt Lake Tribune reports ongoing talks on the Priica Consolidated merger with Nevada Utah. Officials deny completed agreement as stockholders will be notified directly once details are perfected.
