Reported rich ore strikes at Willow Springs, about 100 miles northwest of Pioche, trigger a rush of residents headed to the new diggings. Names include B F Freuder, H W Turner, Clyde West Py Smith, Clift Hebert, Jef King, James Klein, C F Leo, and others planning to depart tomorrow. Event reports from Panaca Chronicle detail suffrage rally led by Anna Martin, reception, and later community activities including dances, talks, and local notices.
Washington Postmaster General Albert S Burleson pledges a businesslike Postal Service run for the people. He proposes appointing top assistants to study efficiency and self sufficiency, and to adapt parcel post rules to cut costs while serving producers and consumers. He declines to comment on a government monopoly in small parcel delivery.
The illustrated panel describes a coastal court complex with a spiraling column at the entrance symbolizing courtly endeavor. Congressman Roberta is the author of a bill introduced in Congress on the first, providing for an appropriation of 50000 dollars to drill and test wells to determine the underflow available for irrigation by pumping in the counties.
Clark Lincoln and Nye in the state. The bill provides that the expenditure of the fund shall be under the supervision of the director of the U S Reclamation Services.
News comes to Lewis H. Benson Record editor of the loss of his father, Lewis Benson, aged 80 years and three months, who died at Gulfport Mississippi last Saturday. Cancer of the stomach diagnosed in January. Remains sent to Anita Iowa for interment. Founder of Anita and long active in business there. He leaves a widow Augusta Beason of Gulfport, two daughters Olive Beason of Chicago and Mrs A A Mathias of Gulfport, and two sons Charles T Heagon president of Drovers Commission Co Chicago, and Lewis H Beason of Ploche.
Eman Kelly, brakeman, was badly hurt near Caliente Nevada while climbing a train tunnel area and was taken to Salt Lake City for medical care. A separate incident involved a man attempting to ride a freight to Los Angeles, suffering facial injuries but recovering after rest and returning home. Local social notes cover Miss Martin Wing’s Equal Suffrage speech and various brief hometown updates from Caliente and surrounding areas.
Developments at Day Bristol mine, praised by Fred W. Dickie, include links to the Gypsy 2000 level and a new ore shoot in the Corksrew raise. Several hundred tons of high grade ore are broken, with connections to Green deposits on the 450 level and anticipated ties to National and Great Eastern shoots, signaling renewed ore output and long mine life.
