The cobra and the family tale unfold in the Mainwarings
In a narrative framed by Frank Mainwaring’s diary, the narrator details his fascination with a cobra Saprani and the tense household, where his brothers Henry and John clash in temperament. A London telegram arrives with Saprani’s arrival and Miss Forrestal, a poised English cousin, enters, changing the family dynamics as the narrator contemplates marriage and legacy.
