At Nuremberg on September 16 Adolf Hitler told youths at the Nazi annual gathering that friendship would be given only to the strong and that Germany would be among the first in the concert of nations. He asserted every German belongs to the nation and praised marching prowess as a measure of youth.
William Hanley a famed Oregon cattle king and 1912 U S Senate candidate died in Pendleton at age 74. He was the last of a renowned cattle family and passed away today.
Washington dispatch reports Delegate Anthony J. Dimond says airbase sites under the Wilcox Frontier Air Defense Act will not be designated until spring 1936. Army officials cite the program’s scale requiring thorough surveys before site designation. Dimond hopes Alaska’s proposed base ranks among the first built and notes Alaska seeks 2.9 million dollars for commercial air fields and route markings. Governor Troy has forwarded Alaska’s blanket allotment request. A flying force may visit Alaska early next year to collect more data.

Desversky of Farmingdale New York set a world speed record for amphibian planes by driving a 710 horsepower craft to 230.03 miles per hour on a three kilometer course at Wayne County airport. His fastest lap was 225.96 mph and the runs were sent to Washington DC for inspection and acceptance. The previous record was 161 mph held by Lieutenant E G Stone of the U S Coast Guard.
Paris reports French authorities believe Italy will join war with Ethiopia and say they hope Mussolini will sign a pact guaranteeing Austria's independence before launching his East African venture.
Washington reports a clash over Democrats using a constitutional issue against Roosevelt. Senator Thomas of Utah questions the plan while Republicans and administration ready Constitution Day events with Daniel C. Roper set to speak. Kirby claims fifty thousand enrollees and broad southern backing for a revolt against the New Deal.
From Nurnberg on Sept 16 the Reichstag moved to pass three laws restricting Jews. One bars Jews from German subjects and from flying non Zionist emblems, another bans intermarriage with Aryans, and the third forbids Jewish domestic workers under 45. Hitler defended the measures as defense of Germany and condemned the Brosky incident, linking it to Jewish agitation.
Owensboro Kentucky. Christine Lanham 19 charged with murder after confessing she shot Ezra Boarman 35 an escort at a roadhouse claim of improper advances. She said she took Boarman's pistol from a car pocket and shot him as he drove into a lane. An examining trial is set for tomorrow.
Manila reports threats of assassination as the first Philippine presidential race heads toward a climax. Three candidates anticipate victory on Tuesday with Senator Manuel Quezon’s coalition accusing Emilio Aguinaldo’s followers of assassination talk and charging propaganda against Bishop Gregorio Aglipay of the independent Catholic Church of the Islands.
