Alaska Fish Dispute Ends Union Wins All Points

In San Francisco on May 20, A K Tichenor announced a settlement on all points of the Alaska fish dispute after a conference with cannery workers and union representatives. The deal grants Alaska Cannery Workers Union recognition, full unionization of canneries, $65 monthly wages plus overtime bonus, and hiring hall provisions. Foremen may remain in some posts under the agreement. The De La Ruf fishing boat sailed within an hour. two freighters Iowan and Columbian remain tied up with unrelated crew troubles.

Copper Dividends Rise at Kennecott and Utah Copper

Kennecott Copper Company directors raise the common share dividend to thirty cents, from twenty-five cents, marking the third increase since payments resumed in 1934. Utah Copper, majority owned by Kennecott, sets a sixty-five cent dividend payable June 30 to stockholders of record May 29.

Landon Leads Borah In New Jersey Primary

Alf Landon leads Borah in the New Jersey primaries with about half the votes counted. He sits well ahead at better than three and a half to one and is assured of four district delegates plus most of the 28 district delegates, with 22 pledged to Landon and possible two more of New Jersey’s 32 votes. The Democratic slate of 56 delegates and eight at large delegates is pledged to Roosevelt.
