Niagara Falls May 20 The mediators and delegates from the United States Huerta and Carranza opened talks this morning with hopes of progress by week’s end to shape the conference’s probable outcome. The press awaits any news as negotiators stay reticent and avoid interviews.
Riggs and Mears arrived in Seattle to discuss Alaska railroad termini with officials and residents. Riggs indicated Fairbanks as the northern terminal while Portage Bay or Seward would be considered for the southern end, with shifts planned for later.
Former New Haven and Boston Railroad president Charles Mellen testifies before the interagency hearing, alleging Theodore Roosevelt supported merging the New Haven with the Boston and Maine lines.
