Fort Yukon Alaska May 15 The past week saw about two hundred influenza cases with six native deaths. four nurses and a doctor work at Hudson Stock Hospital. Flooding from ice breakage on the Yukon and flooded streets hampered efforts. only three new cases since Tuesday.
The Ways and Means Committee approves a bill to tax corporations with a projected annual revenue of about 4 14 million as debate awaits on the House floor. Supporters say the measure will raise needed funds while opponents question its impact on businesses and workers.
President Roosevelt predicted the Philadelphia 1944 Democratic convention would abandon the two-thirds requirement for nominating a presidential candidate in favor of a simple majority.
