Influenza Deaths Reported at Barrow Alaska
Officials of the Bureau of Indian Affairs said the Point Barrow influenza epidemic was spreading and ready to send aid from Fairbanks. Alaska Rep. Hawkesworth radioed that 35 deaths had occurred at Barrow by last Saturday night, including 20 in nearby villages. The office is sending two University of Pennsylvania bacteriologists to Barrow.
