Six men missing in a Lynx Creek snow slide near Seward are believed to be from Seattle and employed by H. C. Cooper Gola Mine Co. Cooper is safe. The slide runs about two miles long and twenty five feet deep as road crews and district workers rush to aid the search.
Interior Department backed Alaska colonization opportunities as Dr E I Gruening urged a House Appropriations sub committee that Alaska can expand its population and serve as an outlet for many Americans. Seward accounts note W W Sher and Representative Johnson of Okman involved in forest and party matters with continuations on pages three and four.
The Associated Press reports a grand imperial ceremony in London announcing the crowning of George VI and Elizabeth. Archbishop of Canterbury performs the ritual as crowds witness the historic pageantry, symbolizing rule over hundreds of millions.

Tacoma middleweight Freddie Steele defeated Frank Battaglia of Minneapolis in Seattle on May 11. Steele weighed 156 while Battaglia was 189. After two knockdowns in earlier rounds Steele floored Battaglia for a ten count at 34 seconds of the third round, in front of about nine thousand fans.
