Los Angeles May 10 lawyers for the McNamara brothers failed to win bail pending trial and authorities said none of the three accused will be released. The report of a self harm attempt by John McNamara was denied as unfounded in today’s dispatch.
The Corwin steamer with cargo and passengers left Seattle Harbor this morning after preparations and hopeful prospect for Nome and the summer voyage. Captain West plans negotiation with Hewes for a twenty day trip to the Arctic town, while reports indicate fruit and vegetables aboard and expected arrival in Nome. The voyage aims to boost trade and mining prospects, with assurances the ship remains seaworthy and ready for the northern run.
