Sikorsky outlines giant flying boat airliners for ocean service
Igor Sikorsky announced plans to build multi engine flying boats sized to carry about 30 passengers with a crew of eight to ten. The aircraft would twin deck feature comfortable interiors on par with steamship accommodations including sleeping quarters a dining lounge and space for dancing. He predicted speeds of 160 to 180 mph and said the planes would be designed for long ocean flights doubling the size of current Clippers.
