Armed police guard the Dionne quintuplets at Dafoe Hospital Callander Ontario as rumors swirl of a kidnapping plot. Constables McCord and Noyes oversee the ten month old children who sleep and eat in the hospital attic amid heightened security.
Pacific Coast foreign trade for January rose twenty eight percent over the same month last year. Imports in 1935 reached thirty million dollars versus thirty million six hundred thousand in 1934. Exports greatly exceed imports.
Inquiries received by the Office of the Governor about Charles Flinn last heard in Alaska in November 1907 and his daughter Ethel M. Austin of St. Maries Idaho seeking information. Also Anastacio Gutieres Ubas last heard from in 1932 while working in a cannery in Alaska. anxious parents seek contact.
Senator McAdoo calls for strong fortifications in the Pacific including the Aleutians and Guam to protect American interests. He urges rapid construction amid rising military concern and mentions contact with his brother in Tacoma.

Berlin reports the Lithuanian military tribunal condemned four Nazis to death and eighty seven to prison, with protests cited across the Reich. Officials call it a severe blow to efforts to bring Germany into line with a peace program and doubt Hitler’s favorable reaction to assurances given to Sir John Simon.
Brussels March 24 The government ordered Belgian stock exchanges closed and no quotation on foreign exchanges during the period. A devaluation program is to be announced by parliament tomorrow. The inclusion of socialists in Premier Paul van Zeeland’s cabinet is seen as settling the devaluation issue while the fate of Belgium’s currency linkage remains undecided.
The U S government rested its evidence this morning in the case against Bob Larson. The defense began its case later and anticipated completion before adjournment. The jury received the case at about 3 20 pm and no verdict had been returned at press time.
Tokyo announces withdrawal from the League of Nations while insisting on keeping the mandated islands in the equatorial Pacific and Manchuria under a permanent Japanese empire. The push follows the League’s attempt to seize the former German territories after World War I.
Warsaw reports the cabinet of Premier Kozlowski resignation after a regular parliamentary session. Colonel Slawek, a former premier, is expected to be named the new head of government. The jury verdict on the mission to enforce the Polish constitution was not specified.
Washington March 28 The House passed three measures to strengthen naval defense afloat and ashore. They authorize a thirty eight million dollar program to build up Pacific bases and a thousand extra officers for ships, with aviators for expansion. The largest item is ten million dollars for a floating drydock at Pearl Harbor Hawaii.
A list of candidates for the council seats and other city offices is printed. The race includes three council positions with incumbents named and filings confirmed. election day is April 2.

Arthur C. Hill, 59, longtime Alaska resident, died Sunday of pneumonia at Ibanks Hospital. He came to Alaska with his father during the gold rush era, studied civil engineering at the University of Washington, and was part owner in claims on Big Eldorado. He was born in Seattle. his mother Mrs Janet Hill lives near Seattle.
