Paris dispatch says French commander reports a broad advance along fifty miles of front between the Somme and Aisne. Ten villages fell after stubborn German resistance, German troops retreating, French in pursuit. Large stores of supplies, guns and prisoners captured as the Laon road gains noted.
President orders an April 2 start for the extra session to address wartime policy after the sinking of three American ships by German subs. Bid deadlines for torpedo boat destroyers are set up and shipyards asked for capacity increases. A Nugget office ad seeks a steady woman for general house work.
News from San Francisco reports Pacific Steamship Company plans Nome service with steamers Sevatoy and Umatilla. Sevatoy will sail May for Nome direct, Umatilla June 1 from Seattle for Nome direct with no St Michael calls. Two San Francisco freighters also expected to depart May and July. Frank O'Connor to oversee company interests in San Francisco.

Transport home and care for the physically disabled are promised, with churches and clergy aiding the effort. London dispatch notes former czar Nicholas and his wife under guard as the Duma considers their fate.
A large citizens meeting last night nominated G J Lomen for mayor with unanimous support. The gathering also selected Alfeo Anderson and Fs Grimm for city clerk and Phil Murphy for treasurer, while several others were listed for various posts. Lomen pledged economical administration and reform of the assessment roll, urging government as a business to serve health welfare and prosperity.
