Washington reports two days of striking Russian events after censorship removal. Officials weigh recognizing the new government if it proves stable and in control. Embassy inquiries yield little new information as the personnel outlook remains uncertain.
Berlin reports state that after the czar’s abdication and the duma’s control, German papers agree the new Russia opposes Germany more than the old regime. A stronger war effort and a republican Russia could threaten neighboring kingdoms, urged as a motive for a decisive victory.
Early this morning a giant Zeppelin raid attempt on Paris was met by a swift aerial defense. The airship exploded and crashed in the southeast suburbs, killing all crew. bombs aboard caused further blasts but caused little local damage.
Berlin March 17. General staff reports heavy fighting south of Arras where a British detachment was completely annihilated. Savage hand to hand combat followed a British attack and every enemy participant in the charge was slain.

New York March 17. Brotherhood members sue in federal court to stop leaders from calling a railroad strike. They argue leaders lack authority and the nine month old union vote misapplies to current action. Leaders postpone strike two days after Lane influence is acknowledged.
Paris reports a French victory between the Oise and Ancre rivers. The army advanced two and a half miles along a fifteen mile front, driving back German forces. Observers deem this the greatest single day gain on the western front since trench warfare began, with broader British successes near Ancre and the capture of Bapaume signaling disruption of the German line.
