In Seattle the New Order wins a sweeping political victory as the Seattle election concludes. The Senate rejects Nordale eight hour six day bill and counters with licensing proposals while the House leans toward a liquor control board with tighter rules.
Washington reports that after ten weeks the Democratic Congress has yet to enact any new deal program. The White House faces scrutiny as observers weigh strategy toward 1936 elections and the Senate deadlock. Some see deliberate patience, others a loss of leverage, while others predict a return to normal clashes between executive and legislative branches.
On March 13 in San Francisco threats of a general Pacific Coast shipping blockade raised tenseness along the coast. Seafaring unions pledged support to striking oil tanker sailors, with the International Seamen’s Union endorsing the actions. The first sympathetic walkout was reported at San Pedro where radio operators on oil tankers were reportedly stood down.

Pilot Vans Mirow of the Miro Air Service flew from Nome to Fairbanks arriving at 5 30 pm and plans to fly to Valdez tomorrow weather permitting.
The New Deal seeks to avert a Dhow aimed at two million dollars in gold clause bonds and replace them with lower interest securities. President Roosevelt faces questions over legality and the right to redeem bonds without full repayment, amid a broader fight over fiscal policy.
A 1935 congressional bill by Delegate Anthony J. Diamond seeks to ratify Nome Alaska as a municipal entity and authorize issuing bonds up to 100000 for sewers, drains, fire-fighting systems, streets, sidewalks, and a municipal building. A special election would precede bond issuance.
Washington March 13 Delegates Dimond predicts the War Department bill would place the Washington Alaska Telegraph System under permanent government ownership if financed by Compass.
