March 11 report on liquor control measures, mining tax dispute, and appropriations as the Senate and House meet in a joint session. Senator Frawley denounces a labor bill as communist in nature while Brunnelle defends a health bill. The Legislative Ball plans follow the sessions.
Fairbanks reports a dog race where the team led by Dr. O A Braastadt finished third in the Dog Derby won by Buzby. Hurley placed second. The event capped a day that also included hockey results among Dawson Fairbanks Anchorage and Alaska College teams.
The AFL intensified its campaign claiming many strikes would follow if the Wagner Labor Disputes Bill fails. President Green warned of widespread strikes and urged passage, with costs projected per month by carrier and by mail.
Paris reports two lawyers Felix Kanoui and Pierre Meriat dueled in a blizzard over alleged professional insult. Kanoui was twice wounded in the arm but continued fighting until doctors stopped him. Kanoui is fifty years old. Meriat sustained injuries described as less severe.
In Geneva March 9 a Bulgarian delegate to the League of Nations said the Bulgarian Turkish crisis had been settled. He reported difficulties arose from massing Turkish troops on the Bulgarian frontier have been entirely liquidated.
In Hamburg on March 11 Max Schmelling defeated Steve Hamas in nine rounds, moving closer to a title bout with Max Baer in June. Schmelling dominated after a cautious start, scoring multiple knockdowns and prompting the referee to stop the fight as Hamas endured punishment.
The Northland steamer will carry 74 construction staff and 44 technical workers plus 6000 tons of material to establish air bases on five Pacific Islands. It sails from San Francisco in early April with flights slated to begin in July from California to Hawaii, Midway, Wake, Guam, Manila, and on to China via Pan American routes.
The Associated Press reports from Vienna and Washington that the Bulgarian intentions involving the NRA investigation remain unclear. Foreign Minister Tituliscu allegedly sent a memorandum with Richberg on the stand for Bulgaria, while Senator Glass criticizes NRA negligence at the Greck Bulgarian frontier amid anti trust enforcement concerns.

The ship will investigate reports involving Herbert Anderson, a Bristol Bay businessman and musher, and a missing dog team on Kanekanok.
