Sulzer backs Nome harbor bill in House speech

The Juneau Empire reports Delegate Sulzer urged the Nome harbor project in a House speech. The bill includes 105000 for the Snake River mouth dredging and 45000 for Controler Bay harbor preliminary work as the House passes the rivers and harbors bill totaling over 27 million dollars.

Two Contingents of American Troops Arrive in France

The Public Information Committee announced the arrival of two contingents of U.S. troops in France. Secretary Baker declined comment. The troops departed the United States over ten days ago and are the first regulars on foreign soil, sent to the rear near the Western Front. A larger force is expected soon, with more fighting anticipated in two to three weeks. Also, the Alaska Lighterage Company dispatched a barge with coal and oil to Solomon in tow of the Genevieve, and a crew to unload the freighter Wainwright was sent to the East Coast port.
