President Roosevelt announced the National Youth Administration to aid unemployed youth through school training apprenticeships and jobs. The agency under Work Relief Program sets aside 50 million dollars for private industry work and youth education for ages 16 to 25.
President Roosevelt announced a plan to aid about 500000 unemployed youths. Josephine Roche and Aubrey Williams lead the effort under Treasury and FERA guidance with work relief payments set at fifteen dollars monthly for most youths, six dollars for high school students, and fifteen dollars for college students.
Anchorage reports Judge George J. Love former U. S. Commissioner at Valdez and later Land Office Secretary died last night before his 76th birthday. Born in Iowa he was part of Nome Valdez and Fairbanks service and is survived by brother Major Henry Love of Florence Iowa. Funeral planned in Anchorage with Masons and Pioneers involvement.
Pan American Airways unveils a three day schedule for proposed China flights to start in September or October. Flights will use a forty four passenger Martin Clipper with weekly round trips. Fares quoted include under a thousand dollars to Manila and about three hundred sixty five dollars to Honolulu.
The Ketchikan bond issue for light water and telephone utilities became a notable local matter as President failed to sign H R 6084 by May 15 after interior department delays. Delegate Dimond pressed White House. Interior reported loss of enrolled bill with no record of receipt, prompting broad discussion.

In New York at Yankee Stadium Joe Louis defeated Primo Carnera, bleeding from the mouth after round one. Carnera was knocked down to counts of four twice in the sixth, then finished by a left hook to the nose. Referee Art Donovan stopped the bout. purses were 96000 for Carnera and 49000 for Louis.
National guardsmen still controlled Tacoma amid threats of further violence shifting toward Portland Oregon. More workers were expected to return to work today after the unrest. Fighting erupted at Longview when union men attacked a meeting of the Longbell Lumber Company workers.
Rome dispatch reports Anthony Eden left for London amid official sentiment that discussions with Mussolini did not alter the Duce's resolve to seek a complete solution to the Italo Ethiopian crisis.

The City of Ketchikan, already owner of power and water utilities, bought its telephone system from Public Utilities Consolidated Corporation in Chicago for 954790 dollars. The purchase follows earlier municipal ownership and expands city utility holdings.
In Tokyo on June 26 a Manchoukuan frontier patrol of eighty fought seven hundred Chinese soldiers along the Jehol Chahar frontier. More Manchoukuan troops were ordered to the battlefield as continental leaders reportedly pressed for an immediate attack on Chinese forces.
