A congressional notice directs the Secretary of War to survey the mouth of Sinuk River Alaska for potential improvement. It notes Delegate Dimond acknowledging Esch’s September 19 1936 letter and support for a safe deep water harbor in the Second Division.
Agent Joe Harnish received a telegram that the SS Victoria of the Alaska Line was unloading cargo at Golovin as Bay ice broke up and drifted seaward. The vessel was due at St Michael tomorrow morning and scheduled to reach Seattle Thursday afternoon to load passengers and depart.
The Weather Bureau in Nome was authorized by its Central Office in Washington to establish a cooperative weather station on Little Diomede Island. The site will be the most northwestern cooperative station in North America and will collect records of weather and climate conditions.
Meteorologist Thomas Hayward requests gear from the Section Center at Juneau for a new station. Father Cunningham will serve as Observer. The U S C G Northland under Captain F A Zeusler is on Norton Sound cruise checking ice and routine duties. return timing is unknown.
Pilot Crawford of the MAS is expected from Fairbanks today with O D Cochran and Bill Guisler aboard. Pilot Sig Wien of the WAA flew to Cand le with freight for Arctic Circle Exploration Co and two other freight flights were made today. He also carried J J Keenan and J H Alexander to Teller for Shelton on freight.
Pilot Walt Hall of the WAA is scheduled to arrive home tonight from Fairbanks with passengers aboard.
Pilot Mirow of the MAS carried the U S District Attorney to Kotzebue amid reports of an Eskimo murder inquiry. He then returned alone and ferried multiple passengers including Herman Ingala, Mr. Sholin, Geo Walhelm, Lou Berry, Gene Lucas, and Fred Yenney to Iron Creek and Shelton before planning another Kotzebue flight to pick up the District Attorney.

General Meteors Corp reports 43,450 workers idled in five cities due to strikes and parts shortages. Unions say the strikes were unauthorized by the United Automobile Workers, with GM under an agreement requiring negotiations before strikes.
