National Guard to Leave for France in July

About 125000 national guardsmen will depart the United States for France between July 15 and the end of August forming five divisions. The first units will be called in mid July with the last on August 5 as transports are prepared. Secretary Baker described guardsmen as well trained and eager for service with training already completed. Engineer corps totaling nine units were ordered to active service and will train at established camps with machinery to produce war supplies. The New York division led by General O R yan and including the Fighting Sixty-Ninth Seventh Regiment and a New York guard squadron pledged to go abroad.

France Receives Second $100 Million Loan From United States

The United States loans France another hundred million dollars on 3.25 percent short term, to be converted to bonds by July 30 1917. Funds must be spent in the United States with a new French purchasing department in New York coordinating supplies and motor trucks for heavy work worldwide. Aimed at aiding military transport, the plan reflects American initiative. Steamer Standard sails for Solomon at 9 a m tomorrow.

Natives Revolt Conspiracy Involving German Officials

Chicago June 2 Baron Kurt Vonrelandz former German vice consul and thirteen others are indicted by the federal grand jury for conspiracy to foment a revolt against Britain in India. Agents of Vonreiswitz were arrested in Canada while Hindustan leaders in the United States were urged to back a Bengal uprising. Several Burmese and Bengalese residents testified to the inducements. Additional arrests are expected.

First underwater clash as French sub sinks German subs

Paris dispatch reports a French submarine Clerce battled a large German sub in the Adriatic, both submerged. The German boat was blown up by a torpedo and sank with all crew. The Clerce surfaced to meet a nearby British cruiser. The German craft, said to be the latest and largest of its class, tied to May launches.

First boats carry over a thousand passengers to Nome voyage

Pacific News Service reports the steamer Amatilly carried 303 passengers and freight to Nome, with Victoria's shipload following this morning. List includes many named passengers and officials. a San Francisco steamer arrival notes crowded conditions and ongoing travel. The Victoria and Senitor also appear with prominent travelers and routine notices. The Nome Nugget urged home delivery for $2.00 monthly.
