The British liner Queen Mary reached Ambrose Lightship at 7:55 A M and entered quarantine in New York harbor after an Atlantic crossing of four days six hours thirty eight minutes, slower than the Normandie's four days three hours thirteen minutes. Two Airliners Forced to Land After Ground Signal
A TWA plane carrying five or six passengers was forced to land in a vacant lot after a ground signal to delay landing. The aircraft clipped a house roof and nose damage occurred. All passengers were bruised or shaken and six were hospitalized for treatment. Pilot W. L. Smith piloted the aircraft to a safe site after losing altitude.

Canadian robber dies in Seattle after self inflicted wound
The man tentatively identified as Edward McMullen, a member of a Canadian robbery gang, died in a Seattle hospital from a wound he inflicted on himself in a scuffle with border officials at Blaine, Washington. Inspector Charles Flachs was killed in that incident. Police will forward fingerprints and data to the U S Department of Justice for formal identification.
