Olnes Creek Town in Flames in Fairbanks District
Special to the Nugget reports late Friday that the Yukon Territory creek town of Olnes on the Chutanika River below Dome Creek mouth is burning likely to be wiped out. Olnes housed 40 to 50 buildings including stores saloons and dwellings and stood near the Dome paystreak a promising mining site. Fire crews were mobilized with air support and losses are not yet estimated as winds could destroy most remaining structures.
