Destructive floods render more than 500000 people homeless as Ohio and Mississippi river regions suffer escalating devastation. Warnings of a potential super flood raise fears of worsening conditions with urgent relief efforts needed.
A/(AP) undated cable reports a rising flood in Ohio spilling into the Mississippi at Cairo Illinois. Army engineers warn of extreme flood conditions as water supplies in Cincinnati are tainted and Louisville is evacuated under military rule.
