A New York report details that the Mohawk liner wreck killed forty-six, with thirty-three bodies recovered and twelve still missing. Among the dead are prominent Westbury residents, Prof H F Cleland, and Mrs Peabody. Captain Wood remains missing while Malcolm Rigoulet’s body was found. The sunken vessel lies six miles southeast of Seagirt Light, marked by lifeboats. Federal inspectors opened an investigation into the disaster.
Remains of giant reptiles from an unknown formation in South Dakota are identified as the saurian Trinacomerum bentonianum. Field Museum curator S.J. C. Simms notes that only five or six plesiosaur skeletons of any genus are on display in American museums, with none from this formation.
