Japanese Ship in Distress Near Cape Flattery
The Japanese freighter Hokuman Maru reported a seventeen degree list and flooding while en route from Vancouver to Osaka. The vessel, about several hundred miles west of Cape Flattery, requested immediate aid as a Coast Guard cutter Chelan departed Port Angeles with a wounded crewman aboard. The ship carries about thirty five crew members and one reported casualty.

Frank testified before the State about Hauptmann and his wife’s finances from April 2, 1932, through Hauptmann’s arrest on September 19, 1934, revealing sixteen thousand nine hundred forty-two dollars in Hauptmann brokerage accounts and total assets of forty four thousand four hundred eighty six dollars.
