Confessed to Writing Threat to Jane Withers
David Harris, 46, walked into a Los Angeles police station and confessed to directing a $25,000 extortion threat against child star Jane Withers. He said he read about threats to Shirley Temple and Freddie Bartholomew and could not explain his motive. Two Sides Reject Non Intervention Plan in Civil War
London dispatch reports both the Spanish Socialist and insurgent governments spurned the Non Intervention Committee proposal to control munitions shipments in the three month old civil conflict. Townsend Dollars Tested In Chelan Plan Draws Attention
In Chelan Washington on January 19 Townsend Dollars are being piloted by C C Fleming 63 spending spree entering day three of using the system. He paid 49 50 in bills with each bearing signatures and a two cent tax note. A four dollar telephone bill was paid with eight cents tax and a five dollar bill yielded change plus two cents tax. Receipts show growing fan mail nationwide.
