A third of Bergen, Christiana date January 17, is burned by a gale driven fire. Two lives dead and about two thousand left nameless as blocks and the business district vanish in flames. Firefighters were hampered by heat and cold and several explosives were used to check the fire. Nearly a hundred injured and property losses estimated at ten million dollars.
